No you’re right – not the most exciting title….but read on as i look at the importance of seating and posture.
How we sit is so important to how we manage so many tasks and i think we take for granted being able to position ourselves as we need to achieve the task in hand.
Clients with profound difficulties are often left unable to manage the most basic self care tasks such as feeding themselves or seeing the TV simply due to their posture. Recently i have been doing a great project completing seating assessments to enable clients to sit in a more functionally able way.
It is truly astonishing what the right seating system can achieve in terms of a clients ability to interact more with their environment and regain just a piece of the valuable independence.
